Becoming a Ranger is an honor shared by a select few, you’ll be a member of 2nd Batt, 75th Ranger Regiment, on a team designed to complete missions that call for speed, precision, and heavy firepower; including rifles, machine guns, and explosives. The unit is based on Charlie Company and is supported by snipers and mortars from Delta Company, with rotary wing support provided by 4th Battalion, 160th SOAR(A).

Special reconnaissance, which includes gathering intelligence on enemies, is crucial to many Ranger operations and a very important aspect of training.

The Army Ranger selection process

Army Rangers take on some of the most advanced and rigorous training in the Army. To become a Ranger, you’ll first be tested in the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP)—a program to test your abilities and train you to become an Army Ranger. Following RASP, you can volunteer to go through Ranger School, known as one of the toughest training experiences in the Army. Finally, any additional or specialized training can take place.

Step 01:

RASP

In RASP, you’ll be taught tactics, techniques, and procedures used in Regiment, this will prepare you for direct-action missions, night operations, and close quarters combat. Key topics include: Combat First Aid, Communication, Basic Weapon System Employment, and Small Unit Tactics.

Step 02:

Ranger School

Ranger School is completely voluntary, but necessary to lead in the 75th Ranger Regiment. If you choose to attend, you'll be able to put all that you have learned to the test as well as refine any skills needed to become the best you can be. This will include, Radio Operating Procedures, Squad Level Movement, Battle Drills, Advanced Weapon Employment, Urban Operations, Watercraft, Mounted Patrolling Techniques, and Ranger First Responder.

Step 03:

Specializations and Further Development

In order to progress or specialize within the 2/75th, you will have to learn specialized skills. These schools and courses are optional but include: Airborne School, Air Assault School, Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Advanced Ranger First Responder Course, Special Operations Combat Medic Course, Sapper Leader Course, Sniper School, Indirect Fire Infantryman Course, Forward Observer Course, Joint Fires Observer Course, Special Operations Tactical Air Controller Course.

Requirements to become an Army Ranger

  • Maturity and ability to follow rules and leaders.

  • Legal copy of Arma 3.

  • Working microphone.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Age 18+
